The final project meeting took place on 7 April 2026 at CMI in Prague, Czech Republic, with 6 participants attending in person and 10 joining online. The consortium reviewed the successful completion of all work packages and the strong technical progress achieved over the project’s duration.
Key outcomes highlighted during the meeting included:

Development of AutoRFPower, an automated RF power‑measurement software with advanced uncertainty evaluation.

New VNA‑based calibration methods for RF power sensors, improving speed and repeatability.
-
Improved calibration techniques for monopole and loop antennas, including ECSM and the Three‑Antenna Method.
-
Release of SIL calculation software compliant with CISPR 16‑1‑5.
-
Best‑practice guides for antenna calibration and EM‑field calibration across 10 Hz to 40 GHz.
-
Construction of new Helmholtz coils, TEM/uTEM cells, and tapered TEM cells in several partner institutes.
-
Completion of multiple interlaboratory comparisons covering RF power, antennas, and EM‑field intensity.
-
Delivery of an extensive training programme for partners and stakeholders.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to continue collaboration and to support the uptake of new calibration services developed within the project.

The 22RPT04 RFMicrowave2 project final workshop will be held on 8 April 2026 in the Czech metrology institute, Radiova 1136/3, Prague, Czech Republic. Another project meeting was held on 9-10 April 2025 in Silkeborg, Denmark, hosted by Trescal (part of the Danish national metrology system). All participants discussed the project progress in the last 9 months in a nice collaborative atmosphere and future outlooks were given.
Some recent highlights:
▶️ The comparison on the automatic measurement of RF power up to 18 GHz is almost finished. Two more comparisons to start soon, i.e. (i) comparison of power sensor calibration factor measurement using a VNA and (ii) high attenuation measurement comparison.
▶️ New antenna measurement setups established in particular institutes, namely the monopole antenna and loop antenna setups and Helmholtz coil calibration setup.
▶️ Extensive antenna measurement comparison is almost finished. In particular, following comparisons have been organised: (i) ECSM for monopole antennas, (ii) EMC antennas in the frequency range 30 MHz – 1 GHz and (iii) high-frequency calibration using a fully anechoic room / free space in the range 1 GHz – 40 GHz.
▶️ Several new electromagnetic field standards have been built in institutes without previous experience - Helmholtz coils, uTEM cell, pyramidal tapered cells, parallel-plate capacitor. This is an important step towards offering new calibration services in the future.
▶️ Comparison on electric and magnetic field intensity to start soon in order to validate new measurement setups.
So far the project meets its goals, i.e. better preparedness of European national metrology institutes for future measurement challenges and research collaboration across Europe.


The project meeting in M18 was held on 8-9 October 2024 in Gebze, TÜBİTAK UME, Türkiye. The progress of the project was summarized and many fruitful technical discussions took place. The meeting was followed by two technical workshops. The first workshop summarized experience achieved with practical realizations of electromagnetic field standards in particular institutes (i.e., parallel plate capacitor, pyramidal cell, uTEM cell, improvements of anechoic chamber measurements). The second workshop presented the code-selective method for measurement of electromagnetic field intensity of cellular standards (3G, 4G and insight into 5G).

RISE, CMI, SIQ and TÜBİTAK are going to perform a comparisons of three types of antenna calibration capabilities during 2024. Several different antennas will be used as transfer standards.
The comparisons will be undertaken as follows
(i) ECSM for monopole antennas
(ii) antennas in the frequency range 30 MHz – 1 GHz (RISE, TUBITAK)
(iii) High-frequency calibration using a fully anechoic room / free space in the range 1 GHz – 40 GHz
The comparison reports will be published after the comparison end and available in the project website.
